An important material that is used in the construction of a strong and long-lasting building, cement acts as an essential ingredient. It is a fine powder that acts as a strong glue that holds a building concrete strong when it is mixed with sand, water, and other aggregates. Cement is a mixture of calcium silicate and aluminates. The most important raw material for making cement are limestone, clay, and marl which are extracted from quarries by blasting or by ripping using heavy machinery. Cement is the main ingredient that is mainly used in the construction of houses, roads, buildings, dams, and ports, etc.

Uses of cement in different fields:

The use of cement and cement products has been rapidly increased all over the world in the construction of strong and long-lasting buildings, bridges, tunnels, pathways, etc. It is also used in making a strong and brief pipeline, drains, canals, pools, etc. The use of cement has been widely utilized in the field of engineering and civil such as in the construction of docks, pools, piers, retaining walls, silos, etc. The cement is used in creating large structures quickly and can be conformed into different shapes such as arcs, circles, etc. It has a high thermal mass that has moderates temperature.

    The manufacturing process of cement:

The manufacture of cement is a complex process that includes mining and grinding raw materials such as limestone and clay to a fine powder. Then it is heated to a sintering temperature above 1400°c in a cement kiln, where the raw materials are broken down and recombined into new compounds called clinker. The clinker is ground to a fine powder in a cement plant and mixed with gypsum to create cement. Then the cement powder which is manufacture in the industries has been mixed with water, sand, and aggregates to form strong concrete which is widely used in construction and engineering works.

Various other benefits in using the cement:

Cement can be mixed and made into concrete which is highly flexible in using it in construction and can be developed and made into different shapes according to the needs of the builder. The price to afford cement is comparatively a cheaper material. The cement has good plasticity before coagulation and acts as a strong bond between concrete and steel bars, which are made into reinforced concrete members of structures. After using cement made into concrete has high compressive strength and good durability and can be used as a load-bearing member or structure for long-term use. It provides better surface finishing and highly suitable for tile grouting and crack filling.

    Bottom lines:

The manufacturing and the use of cement have been rapidly increased nowadays and widely used among all the people across the world today. As the cement provides architectural decorative and designs, that last for a longer period of the lifetime. The concrete made up of cement is suitable for all-weather conditions and acts as a good shelter after construction. As the cement plays an important role in keeping the building stiff and strong for many years.
