A Fresh Start: How to Declutter Your Home

The adage that a ‘tidy house is a tidy mind’ is frustratingly accurate, even if you live in a bustling family household with children’s toys and your work papers scattered across the kitchen table for the vast majority of the time.

Setting aside a couple of days to decluttering your home and meticulously focusing your attention on one room at a time will be well worth the effort when you have completed your mission.

With this in mind, continue reading to learn how to make a fresh start and declutter your home.

    Create Storage

Firstly, if you have a small flat or house and are short on storage, then it is time to head out to your local hardware store and get yourself a pack of nails, some lightweight shelves and a plethora of ornate hooks. Decluttering means getting rid of things, but it also means finding a home for everything.

In the bathroom, hanging your towels and dressing robes on the back of the door will instantly tidy the space. Instead of superfluous toiletries stashed in the corner by the bath, hang open shelves that keep everything off the floor and in its right place.

Moreover, only keep the toiletries and products you need on display in the bathroom, rather than extra products or gift sets you will never actually use.

    Limit the Space to Declutter

Most people, especially women, have been in the situation of feeling fully motivated and energized to spend the entire day going through absolutely everything in their wardrobe, but after a couple of hours, the room is covered in clothes, and they feel exhausted.

This is why it is far more effective to do different areas of your home and indeed, different drawers in your wardrobe each time, so the room you are in regularly changes and your activity is different.

If you are an organized person, writing a chronological list of every area you need to declutter and what order you plan on doing it will make the process much simpler and probably quicker too.

    Reward Your Efforts!

Once you have taken your donated items to the nearest charity shop, made repeated trips to the tip to dispose of rubbish, and have found a place for every single one of your belongings within various storage options in your home, you can now reward your hard work.

You could treat yourself to a beautiful, innovatively designed statement piece of furniture from ligne-roset-hampstead.co.uk , or choose to celebrate your new minimalistic lifestyle by holding a dinner party in your renovated home (just be sure to thoroughly tidy up afterwards!)

    Focus on the Benefits

Finally, if you do feel as if you simply don’t have the energy nor the motivation to declutter, yet desperately want to, it would be helpful to be reminded of the benefits.

Once the decluttering is complete, you will find yourself saving money when you second guess whether you need the item you are about to buy and the fact that tidying and cleaning the house will take much less time from now on.
